When we speak of “restored” we mean in this case parts of the original dustjacket’s spine and frontcover were pasted on black paper in style of the time. The absolutely best example of this work we ever handled, despite the detached layer of pages.

We purchased this set from the library of Daniel Conner (Connerville / Manch House) but the book bears the original preowner’s name on endpaper of Volume I. It was Trinity College Dublin student “Colonel T. Ainslie Lunham – Coll. Trin.1868”. Loosely inserted is a postcard to Colonel Lunham from the year 1914.

The collection also includes two vintage 19th century cabinet photographs [Carte de Visite’s] of Tom Taylor, a later edition of Ballads and Songs of Brittany and two beautifully inscribed and signed presentation copies of his major works: 1.
