Lively’s reputation has grown steadily since the introduction of his ‘Fly Tying’ column in the ‘Pennsylvania Angler’ over ten years ago. In eight issues each year Lively presented a unique pattern that had proved itself on the Keystone waters, illustrating them with his crisp step-by-step photographs. All of them caught trout, on the freestone streams of the Poconos, on the gentle chalk streams and spring creeks of the Cumberland Valley, and on the big rivers of the Alleghenies. These are the patterns gathered in this book, selecting over forty of the most effective flies from his years of experimenting and testing.
