Hitch and J.Hodges], Frontispiece, LXXII, 356 pages with two full-page copper-engravings by van Gucht (plus engraved Frontispiece). Original Hardcover. Very good condition with only minor signs of wear. With the name “John Morrison” on the titlepage of both Volumes [possibly the 18th century – Architect John Morrison from Midleton, with a connection to Castlemartyr]. These books came subsequently from, the Library of Daniel Conner, Connerville / Bandon / Manch House in which also a set of Buffon, from the library of Richard Boyle Bernard, Dean of Leighlin and MP for Bandon Bridge was included.

First Edition. Cork, From the Machine of W. Scraggs, 102, Patrick-Street, 1846. Octavo. 84 pages. Private half cloth – binding of the time. Bookblock nearly detached form binding. Some rubbing to corners and spine. Interior, pages and titlepage in excellent condition and very clean. Signed and dated by the preowner in the year 1847 (″JSA” or “HA”). Extremely Rare !

Golestan [Gulistan / Rose Garden] – Original 19th century printed version in Persian / Farsi with some contemporary manuscript notes in pencil. Complete title: Great praise and admiration be upon the Creator of the earth, human kind and spirit Infinite blessings and greetings to the God’s beloved court that in this time with the songs of nightingale in the magic and harmonious flower garden of Honourable Sheikh Saadi Shirazi, may God have mercy on him, and great acknowledgement of the book Golestan. Thanks to the great number of believers, God’s follower Qazi Ibrahim Hajji, the noble pious Hajji Qazi Nour Mohammad Milpabadi and Nour-e-Din Bin Heikhakhan, for the second time.

Bombay, In the Printing House Heydari, 1875. Octavo. 252 pages. Hardcover / Contemporary 19th century half leather with marbled paper-covered boards. It is clear from three consecutive little wholes to the bookblock that this version of the Rose Garden was previously bound as a blockbook and rebound in 19th century boards. First 9 and last 7 pages with a faded stain, possibly from the glue of a former wrapper. Otherwise in very good condition with only minor signs of external wear. Some occasional manuscript notes in pencil in english.

404. [Schneemann, Carolee] Eshleman, Clayton.

Bearings. [Two fantastic association copies of this limited edition / Both copies from the library of Carolee Schneemann / Both, beautifully inscribed by Clayton Eshleman to Carolee Schneemann and one copy with an annotation and several interesting textmarkings by Carolee Schneemann].

First Edition. Santa Barbara, Capricorn Press, 1971. 22.5cm x 15.3cm. 22 (6) pages. Original illustrated softcover. Excellent condition of noth editions, with only minor signs of external wear. This is one of Eshleman’s most personal works, which explains why he inscribed it in two consecutive years to Carolee Schneemann. Clayton Esleman writes about the impact Rilke’s “Letters to a Young Poet” had on him in 1959. Carolee Schneemann has marked several passages which were important to her, among which is: “for in the sense that what is deeply sick in man today is his hate for his body, in that he has loaded the most energetic word he has for love-making with all the hostility he feels against the act of love. Don’t fuck with me, we say. Keep your fucking hands off. Fuck you. And that word, like a jungle interwoven with all kinds of lianas and vines of tensions, desires, and hate, can’t now possibly convey just its erotic energy – “. / Eshleman also leaves a short biographical note (in print) at the end of this Volume in which he critically describes his consequential status quo: “…..Moved to New York City the summer of 1966…..the bottom fell out: I left my family, moved into a hole in the corner of Greenwich Avenue and Bank Street and entered Reichian Therapy…..Presently living in Sherman Oaks, California, with my wife Caryl – and, as of last week, loaned orgone accumulator sitting expectantly in Garage….– 28 January 1971”.

All nine plates with faded dampstain but still in beautiful and strong impression. The wide-margined Text in excellent, clean condition besides the faded dampstain. Last page of the Volume with some browning. Very minor wormhole-damage to the last 14 pages. One illustration cleanly detached. Extremely Rare Book !
