An extremely scarce, early 16th century print of a repertory with chapters on Metaphysics, Ethics, Politics. Mainly philosophical but also some medical aphorisms from various philosophers. With engraved title-vignette showing the murder of Saint Godelieve; with the title-vignette repeated on page one of the text and three further fold-out-illustrations (collation complete). Modern Hardcover (dark calf over marbled-paper-covered-boards) and new endpapers. Halftitle letter-press-text laid down an endpaper that precedes the title page. After the restoration and new binding the original bookblock is beautifully preserved and the whole volume in excellent condition with only minor signs of external wear and some browning to a few pages. Very rare Hagiography of poor Godelieve, who was martyred by the servants of her angry husband because she preferred to become a nun rather than marry.

An excellent restoration with preserved patina of this scarce work. The titlepage with a professional repair. Although no sign of it, this book came from the library of Daniel Conner (Manch House). Name of another former owner to pastedown: “Thomas Davis – his book , October 21, 1790”. Extremely rare !
