Excellent, actually stunning condition with only minor signs of wear and occasional foxing to some of the illustrations only). One layer loosened in the 1895-Volume.

“Bedelaar” [″Bettler” / “Beggar”].

Rare, antique, vintage, original Lithograph by the dutch artist Johannes Josephus Aarts, showing the scene of an invalid beggar entering a Hamlet of farmers and asking for alms. Striking and beautiful scene in the typical earthy, nature-embedded, strong depiction by Aarts; full of character and gripping through the magnified presence of Aarts subjects, which are “in your face”. Signed in pencil by Johannes Josephus Aarts. [Fine Art-Paper watermarked “TRCHES”]. [Amsterdam], Roeloffzen, Hübner und van Santen, 1903. Size of the framed Picture: 63 cm wide x 53 cm high. Two original etchings, signed and titled in pencil. [South Africa], no year [c. 1915]. Beautifully framed. The frames with the etchings measure: 39 cm x 34.5 cm. The etchings themselves measure: c. 26 cm x 24 cm. Excellent condition but with some foxing. Frames with minimal signs of wear.

65. Geissler, Paul. (1881 – 1965).

Original Etching. Naples, c.1930. Beautifully Framed. Size of frame with etching: 42 cm x 50 cm. Size of actual etching: c. 38 cm x 30 cm. This original etching from the original plate comes from the estate of the artist and was posthumesly titled by the son of Paul Geissler. The etching is signed in the plate and has been produced probably after the 2nd world war. The german art critic Richard Braungart place Geissler “among the german masters of landscape and architectural etching”.

The book is signed by both artists, Lidia Farkas and Zoltan Poharnok. Hardcover / Original, embroidered binding. Some foxing to binding but the endpapers intact and the binding in overall very good condition. All etchings in excellent condition. A wonderful, rare example of a very rare book !
