This very rare work originates from the wonderful Meade – Collection in Ballymartle (near Kinsale, West Cork), with the name of one of the Meade – family-members written on the titlepage and the bookplate / Exlibris of Richard Meade to the original endpaper.

Beautiful, recent Hardcover / Modern half-leather with gilt lettering on spine and marbled, paper-covered boards. New endpapers. Bookblock and interior in very good and firm condition. Faded dampstain to some of the text only. Very rare and important renaissance-publication.

With a fantastic, full-page, signed message written inside the book by George Moore. Very good – condition of the binding with signs of external wear (some spotting). Moore responds in his manuscript note on the halftitle possibly to the request of Frieda Lawrence, wife of D.H.Lawrence, who requested a copy of Moore’s book “The Pastoral Loves of Daphnis and Chloe”. Moore sent her instead this edition.

These books came subsequently from, the Library of Daniel Conner, Connerville / Bandon / Manch House in which also a set of Buffon, from the library of Richard Boyle Bernard, Dean of Leighlin and MP for Bandon Bridge was included.

Two original Wild-Flower Herbals with Wild-Flowers of which some have medicinal properties (Arnica). The original Plants in these two Herbals were collected by Garden Designer Verney Naylor in the Pyrenees in June-July, 1979 as well as an additional Wild-Flower Herbal, collected by Verney Naylor in the Rocky Mountains of Western Alberta and by her husband, Geologist David Naylor, in the North-West Territories and the Yukon in the year 1966 during a geological Excursion. Both Herbals with Manuscript Notes by Verney Naylor.
