Swiebocki, Auschwitz : Voices from the Ground.

Swiebocki, Teresa and Henryk(Ed.).

Auschwitz : Voices from the Ground. Photographs by Adam Bujack.

Kraków, Parol, no year (c. 1985). 25.8 cm x 26.8 cm. 107 pages with photographs. Original Hardcover. Very good condition with only minor signs of external wear. Sunlight fading on cover.

This large-format hardcover volume was produced by the Polish government in conjunction with staff and caretakers at the sites of the death camps created by the Nazis in World War 2 to perpetuate the horrors of the Holocaust. They have since been turned into national monuments, preserved so the world will never forget the tragedy that occurred, and even more importantly the dangers that could be just an election away…wherever you live. This book has hundreds of full-color and black & white photographs taken both at the height of the camp’s operations, often juxtaposed with what it looks like today. Also has photos of dozens of historical documents, letters, and drawings by those imprisoned and who knew all too well what was coming.

Colour photographs by Adam Bujak and Black and White Photographs from the Archives of the State Museum of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
