Halfdan Wedel Rasmussen (1915–2002) was a Danish poet. He was known for his literary nonsense verse for children and his serious adult writings about social issues and human rights. He was awarded with the Ministry of Culture’s children book prize (Kulturministeriets Børnebogspris) in 1965. (Wikipedia)

Ib Spang Olsen was a Danish artist and writer. He was educated as a teacher in 1943 and later studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen (1945-49). In the years 1947-49 he also studied at the Graphic School. He genuinely belonged to the series of Danish illustrators, such as Mads Stage, Ib Andersen and Axel Mathiesen. He made his debut as a magazine cartoon in the Social Democrat’s supplement Home Sunday in 1942, since then he had a great career as an illustrator and drafts in various newspapers’ Sunday supplements, posters, cartoons and books.

Spang Olsen was also known for his rustic illustrations for short stories, book covers and Halfdan Rasmussen’s children’s books with strips and rhymes.

He was awarded the International Hans Christian Andersen Medal for his drawings in 1972 and also received the Ministry of Culture’s children’s book award. (arnoldbusck.dk)
